This collaborative programme between MOHP/DHS/EDCD and WHO-EHA has been committed to enhancing health sector emergency preparedness and disaster response capabilities in close coordination and collaboration with key players in the country. The overall objective of this section is to enhance the capacities of health sector in emergency preparedness and response by focusing on disaster prevention, mitigation and response District Contingency planning workshop completed up to the46 by FY 2069/70. Activities were carried out during this Fiscal year as a part of the response including mobilization of district RRT for prevention, control and treatment of diarrhoea and ARI cases, medicine were supplied, ,continue monitoring and follow up of preparedness and response of activities carried out by the districts.

Major Preparedness Activities
District level health sector contingency plan has prepared by EDCD with financial and technical support of EDCD, WHO & Merlin Nepal in 35 district at the end of FY 2068/69 including Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Dhankuta, Ilam, Udayapur, panchthar in Eastern Region, Chitwan, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusa, sindhuli in Central Region, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kapilbastu in Western Region, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Surkhet, Jumla in Mid-Western Region and Kailali, Kanchanpur, Bajura, Dadeldhura, Bajhang, achham, darchula, Bajura, Baitadi and Doti Far Western Region. Hospital Emergency/Disaster Preparedness Plan (HEPP) has been prepared in 5 hospital including Rapti Zonal Hospitals Tulsipur, Bardiya & Dhankuta, Gorkha & Sunsari district hospitals.
Major Response Activities:
The main task of this section is to response as soon as possible in a coordinated way at the time of disaster with mobilization of RRTs. Koshi flood response in 2065, response activities during Kailali and Kanchanpur flood and Achham, Bajhang and Dadeldhura landslide in 2066 Aswin are some major examples of response activities done in the past.
